Online journalism is arguably the next biggest thing. Most publications realize this and they are capitalizing on the opportunity and making the best of it while giving the public the most recent top news. I took a look and analyzed specifically three of these. And they are www.sowetan.com of Sowetan newspaper and www.ewn.co.za of Talk Radio 702’ eye witness news and lastly news 24 at www.news24.com.
Immediacy is one of the most important factors in online publication. Most of these sites provide that. www.news24.com provides various clear links to different news for different kinds of people that may log into the site. The stories are clearly categorized as Africa, Sport, Politics and others. This makes it easier for the user to navigate the site and get the type of news that interests him/her. It also gives the user a chance to comment on the stories which is important for getting feedback from the user and interacting with the user.
I found ewn to be a bit confusing especially for someone who would be a first time user. The links are not as clearly mark as one would have expected them to be. The stories are not as clear compared to the other news sites.
